Driveway or car park access
If you want a driveway or car park, you need access. That means a drop kerb, sometimes known as a vehicle crossover. First Highways can install drop kerbs for both homeowners and businesses, and our prices are always competitive.
We will make sure that everything is done properly, ensuring the pavements are properly reinforced to protect the underlying structure so that it can take the weight of both foot traffic and vehicles. As experts with Tarmacadam™ and asphalt, we’re the right choice for you.
Doing it right
Installation of a drop kerb requires permission from the council planning department, then further approval from the county council. Sometimes a district council will advise you that planning permission is not required – in these cases, you must get this written confirmation.
In addition to the required permission and approval, drop kerbs must:
-
Have a minimum width of 2.4m
-
Be more than 10m from any junction and 1.5m from any streetlights
-
Have suitable drainage in place
-
Avoid the removal of tree roots
-
Leave room for parking vehicles on your property
Drop kerb installation
First Highways has approval from Kent County Council, and years of experience in drop kerb installation. In fact, we were the first company locally to use a method that enabled them to be installed near to trees. This method was unseen in the local area before we gained approval from the council to use it.
Our installations are completed professionally and to a very high standard, ensuring that the completed kerb will stand up to constant use.
